Head of Strategic Researches Center at Iran’s Expediency Council Ali Akbar Velayati made the remarks in a meeting with Norwegian State Secretary Wegger Christian Strømmen in Tehran on Sunday.
During the meeting, Velayati voiced keen interest in expanding cooperation with Norway as an industrialized country, saying Iran attaches greater value to expanding relations with European countries, particularly those that adopt more independent policies from the US.
“European counties needs to have a clearer and more accurate outlook toward the Middle East region,” Velayati stressed.
He went on to add, “the only solution to the regional crisis is a political one. To this end, we have had valuable cooperation with regional countries and other countries interested in promoting peace to restore stability and security across the region.”
The Norwegian diplomat, for his part, noted that his country has entered a new phase in economic cooperation with Iran.
“After the implementation of the Iran’s nuclear deal, our trade transactions have had a considerable growth, especially in the field of oil and gas,” he added.
He further stressed that regional issues are of great importance to Norway, considering the refugee crisis and the security of the world.
